the art of conscious leadership
If we only follow the herd,
it is difficult to see the way we are heading
We live in a superficially made complex world. As soon as someone is at the top he is not been seen as a problem anymore. He/She is white washed with success, someone narcissistic is considered normal. Success is not determined by character or intention but only by role and function.
Yet it is so simple. This world is a bottom up culture, not a concept of top down. The fundamental roots must be strong and intact, otherwise the fruits on top are never healthy and delicious. Being a leader doesn’t require a title, having a title doesn’t make us one. Authority can never be asserted by will only by trust and be appointed, that’s true authority.
In this digital age where fame is mistaken for success the definition of leadership must be renewed. Do we need dictators? Leaders in the sense as we still know them and knew before?
The biggest kept secret in leadership is to know
how to lead without leading
The challenge for leaders is to form a homogenous environment with respect for the dignity of the individual and at the same time including diversity. To build good relationships, healthy communities, with values, appreciation and care. Humans are like a huge ingenious network, each of us is like a puzzle piece and are good at many things by ourselves. But only through our connections with each other we will achieve our full exponential creative power and form a full picture. The paradox, the empowerment of the individual is key to truly thrive as unity. And at the same time, we must ensure not to raise and educate a culture of more narcissist and selfish individuals. Leaders must master this balancing act, a new form of communication.
The need for change is inevitable. From hierarchy, the oldest form of leadership to synarchy. This transition can only be healed by love.
What do we mean by synarchy? It is a form of collective leadership. To be able to successfully lead and collaborate with others we need to lead ourselves first.
How does that look like? How do we lead ourselves if there is no hierarchy?
It is scientifically proven that our brains are naturally wired for self-organisation. This ability got supressed through our conditioned educational system. Still, there are people with leadership abilities in their genes. The question: how do they use it? For ego purpose or collective good? And we need people who guide us through this transition, at least for next few 100’s of years, otherwise we will create a tremendous chaos.
On an individual level we will walk our own unique path and pace and not what society dictates. But each community will have an advisor, a direction giver, which are equally stretched across the world. People with the ability to reflect, bring us together and foster diversity. We need an organic flow, smart processes and strategies, combined with wisdom and healthy collaborations. To design a place of trust and surrender control. A leader will have more of a role as a Mentor who creates space for others so they can be successful, they give choices and support autonomy. That will drive cultural change. We need generalist first before we hand over to specialists to solve problems.
